Repeat Landscapes

This practice began with the above image in 2018 in Inverness, CA. Intrigued by the rolling hills and the folding of the landscape I began a practice of painting repeat patterns across multiple frames to build many landscapes one mark and one color at a time. The Grid Paper for Watercolor that I designed for my shop, Case for Making, served as the perfect ground to paint these landscape studies on. The feeling of making one mark over and over, and the tight process allowed for freedom from a pre-programmed outcome. I’m fascinated by minimal graphic language and how memory and place are easily evoked.
